  1. I have an 89 Towncar with 120k miles and have had problems recently with the trans shifting. We changed the fluid and filter because the shifts were delayed and already knew the TV cable was attached with a new metal grommet a couple of years back and it is still in place. The fluid was very dirty and we added five quarts of synthetic dexron/mercon ATF and it was shifting great. Lately with mild foot pressure on the pedal it feels like it is going from first to third and then fourth. If I give it more pedal to start out I can feel it kick down to first, then second, third and of course fourth and it moves out pretty well. Maybe a shifting linkage or a TV cable adjustment?
